Ultrasonic vs. pressure water level sensors, compared on a job site
Meterra co-founder Britain Sorensen compares the ultrasonic sensor, the 15 ft pond-depth pressure sensor, and the 165 ft dam level sensor side by side on a job site.
The ultrasonic sensor reads the surface from above and never touches the liquid — it mounts over tanks of water, fuel, fertilizer, even feed and grain. The pressure sensors sit submerged at the bottom and read the water column above them, which keeps working under ice. Both report over built-in cellular to the same dashboard and app, so a mixed fleet still reads as one system.
