How does the hourly reporting actually work?

The turbine counts every gallon as water moves. Once an hour, the monitor sends in the total for the hour just finished, so your dashboard shows a running hour-by-hour usage record. From that history the software calculates average flow rates and totals for any period — yesterday, last week, the irrigation season — without you touching a dial.

Can it catch leaks?

Yes — that's one of its main jobs. Volume-over-time alerts flag water moving during hours when nothing should be running, and high-usage alarms catch a burst or stuck-open line within the hour.

Does it satisfy water-right measurement and reporting requirements?

The hourly record exports cleanly for water-use reporting, and several states now require or encourage meters on wells — Utah's Division of Water Rights, for example, has been phasing in measurement and reporting requirements on many water rights. Requirements vary by state and basin, so confirm the specifics of your right with your state agency; we're happy to talk through what the data record gives you.
